To The Big House!

"Shep" at Union Grove Middle School

If you’ve been around Fellowship of Christian Athletes at all, you at least know about Shep.  Chris “Shep” Shepherd has been serving alongside Sid Calloway for several years, reaching out to student athletes and coaches in area schools. God has done some incredible things through Shep’s ministry.

Well, it’s off to “The Big House” now for Shep! He and his wife, Brionne, are moving to Ann Arbor, Michigan where Shep will serve as the team chaplain to the University of Michigan football team! What a great opportunity for Shep and Brionne.  Anyone would love to have the opportunity to be the team chaplain at UM – unless you are an Ohio State Buckeye! Brionne is from the area so it is a really good fit for their family, especially in light of the fact that she is expecting their second child!

We are excited for Brionne and Shep but sad to see them leave the South Metro Atlanta area! Way to go, Shep!

Pray for the Shepherds as they move, raise a support team and make a difference for the cause of Christ in The Big House! To help Shep, contact Bruce Mewbourne at bruce@eagleslanding.org.

FCA

Most people have at least heard of FCA, but a lot aren’t sure what FCA is all about.

The Fellowship of Christian Athletes is the largest Christian campus ministry in the world. In the past year, FCA reached more than 350,000 people on over 7,100 campuses and worked with more than 46,000 coaches and athletes at camps across the globe.

We live in a sports-crazed nation. It doesn’t take much research or analysis to figure that out. Sports, in some capacity, are a part of almost everyone’s life, whether it’s playing, watching, coaching or cheering. Even those who aren’t directly involved in athletics probably have a close friend or family member who is. Sports can dominate conversations at home or work. They cause us to get up early and stay up late.

Competing for yourself and your own glory shouldn’t be what it’s about. What if there’s something more to it all?
