1027 Visits Eagle’s Landing!

Tim and Pam Wolfe visited Eagle’s Landing Wednesday, June 2, to share their story in church planting. They are currently serving as church planters at 1027 Church in Midtown Atlanta. 1027, which is six years old, is one of our 20 Points of Light partners.  They are actively involved in a partnership with the Atlanta Food Bank. Tim challenged us to do the same. That was the intention for the night as we were prepared to go into local communities and invite our neighbors to join us and Helping In His Name Food Pantry in helping meet the Henry County need. Rain and thunderstorms kept us from doing that but did not dampen the enthusiasm as most left with bags to distribute and fill with non-perishable food items!

Food for Today, Hope for Eternity

According to the Atlanta Food Bank, 1 in 6 people in Georgia are hungry.

Helping In His Name Ministries, Inc., commonly referred to as “The Food Pantry”, is a non-profit organization that provides temporary emergency help on a biweekly or monthly basis to the unemployed, the underemployed, elderly people on fixed incomes and single parents.  No one with a legitimate need is refused help.

Currently the food pantry assists more than 3100 people each month in and around Henry County.  This requires not only the dedication of loyal volunteers and financial input from many sources, but also a facility in which to store the food and serve the people whom we help.  They depend completely on donations of food and money.

The Food Pantry is open five days a week and is staffed by more than a 150 volunteers weekly, with a 17 member Board of Directors.  Volunteers come from all walks of life to follow the teaching of Jesus to minister to the needs of others.

HOW YOU CAN HELP:

  • PRAY
  • VOLUNTEER YOUR TIME: No experience is necessary, only a willingness to serve.  The Food Pantry can accommodate groups (with advance notice), so gather your family, friends or LifeGroup and enjoy serving together.
  • DONATE: Both financial and food donations are greatly appreciated.  Personal hygiene products are always needed, as these items cannot be purchased using food stamps. Also, there is a great need for baby products (diapers, food, wipes, etc.)

For a complete list of needed items or more information on how you can help, visit their website:  www.helpinginhisname.org

By contributing to the Food Pantry, you can be a part of impacting Henry County with the love of Christ.
