Weekly Wisdom from Jason Byers at Celebration! Church in Ottawa

Jason, Carrie and Caleb

weekly wisdom

This is a column written by Jason Byers, the church planter up at Celebration! Church in Ottawa, Canada.  Drop Jason an email if you’d like to receive regular updates on what God is doing up there! Go to the church website, check it out and then drop him a message.  His email is listed there.

Now, here’s Jason’s weekly wisdom:

Alright, so I admit that I’m a little biased, but this past Sunday’s worship service was AWESOME!

Good fellowship, good music, and quite frankly, it doesn’t get much better than settling knee-deep into GRACE and HOLINESS!  I praise God for a Saviour to whose chest we can draw near and hear the heartbeat of the Almighty, and before whose feet we can fall in reverent fear for He is the Glorified Messiah.  Only in exploring and beginning to understand our salvation in light of these qualities of Jesus are we transformed from the inside out and also prepared to be a transforming agent in the world around us!

I am worshipfully thankful to be standing under grace and to be called unto holiness with you.  Now, from this common standing, I’m excited to continue exploring our common calling.  This Sunday we’ll be kicking off a sermon series on Identity: Who am I? Who is He? Who are We? Through it we’ll look to Scripture and prayer in order to more fully grasp our place in Christ and our role in our Community.  In preparation, I share this encouraging passage from Colossians 3:1-4

Since then, you have been raised with Christ, set your hearts on things above, where Christ is seated at the right hand of God.  Set you minds on things above, not on earthly things.  For you died, and your life is now hidden with Christ in God.  When Christ, who is your life, appears, then you also will appear with him in glory. (bold mine)

Feel free to keep reading the rest of the chapter for some of Paul’s inspired instructions for holy living!  I hope to see you Sunday.

For the sake of the Name,

Jason

From Georgia to Ottawa, Canada!

Jason and Carrie Byers are in Ottawa, Canada planting a church.  But there not Canadians – at least not native Canadians! These guys are from?  You guessed it! Atlanta! Pretty cool – especially during the winter!

Celebration Church, Ottawa, Canada, celebrates the greatness of God by knowing Christ and making Him known.  Their various ministries provide avenues of service within the church, within the community and around the world. Eagle’s Landing is joining hands with Jason, Carrie and the Celebration family to reach people for Christ. We’re not sure what that looks like, but you know one thing you can do for them now, don’t you? Yep! Pray!
